This is a rare & highly desirable 1986 Made in Northern Ireland Lowden S10 serial #575. It has been well used and displays some marks and dings but no cracks , I have tried to show them all in the photos, but it plays and sounds like a dream. If your looking at this you probably do not need me to tell you how good they are to own & play. Clapton and many others know just that.
Tone woods used , Ceder solid top with Honduran mahogany back & sides and Honduran mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, Brazilian rosewood veneered headstock with the Lowden gold logo & Brazilian rosewood bridge. Frets show good condition with no unevenness of wear or buzzing, Sound projection & separation is superb as you would expect.
Lowden is recognized as one of the finest guitar makers in the world building guitars that are a joy & dream to play
There has been a break at the neck / headstock area but that was 10 years ago and has been professionally repaired and as it obviously wasn't a complete break the area is now probably stronger than when in it's original state. I played a Gibson 335 in The British Beach Boys for years with exactly the same type of repair when I got her 8 years ago & she was a strong as anything in that area and only sold her last year as I acquired a 335 Custom .
Anyway back to the Lowden S10 which is infact nowadays called a jumbo 'O' with a 650mm (25.5") scale length & a 45mm (1 3/4") width at the nut, I have been in touch with Lowden to confirm her age & that the guitar was overseen in the making by George and his hand was used to sign the label. All of this has been confirmed back to me. The replacement value of this guitar uses the current model O22 and is £2585 in the UK. We know the cost is higher in other countries and these are not for this vintage guitar from '86. I have seen them advertised for £3200 up to £7000 ! (and that is if you can find one )
